Steve Jobs’ biography changed the way Shah Rukh Khan does business, admits live on #fame

Not just movie scripts, actor Shah Rukh Khan is a voracious reader of fiction and non-fiction books as well. When asked about his collection of books, the king of B-Town listed out a few favourites including Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs and E. L. James’50 Shades of Grey. Commenting on one of his favorite authors, live on #fame, he said, “Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink is about doing business and making it a success. The book explains that in a competition, the guy who blinks first loses first.” King Khan shared details about his beloved reads on a live Q&A session with his fans on India’s leading live entertainment destination.

The actor recommended Blake Snyder’s Save the Cat! for all aspiring writers. “This is one of the best books on screenplay writing that I have read so far.”  While it is Steve Jobs’ biography that changed his ideas about doing business, he does not completely agree with all the rules given in the book. The actor said, “At Red Chillies Entertainment, (motion picture production and distribution company headed by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan), I was involved in multiple businesses. But after reading the book, I realized that focusing only on one thing will help. So, we stopped TV and ad production and focused entirely on films and visual effects. There is a lot of stuff in the book that I don’t agree with, but who am I to disagree with Steve Jobs?”

It was during his shoot for Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan in London that Shah Rukh Khan got several copies of 50 Shades of Grey. While he tried reading the book in London, he’s yet to finish it. He said, “Many may think that the movie is not great but I enjoyed it. It is quite interestingly put together.”
