Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande - movie review

Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande is the story of a gang comprised of four friends- Rajbir (Parvin Dabas), Sexy(Vansh Bharadwaj), Ambani (Ashish Nayyar) and Doctor (Kuldip Ruhil) who are given a job which will give them enough money to make all their dreams come true, but to achieve the same they will have to go against their conscience and the village, Kanjhawla, to which they belong. Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande movie review…

Rajbir is an orphan and belongs to Kanjhawla village. He is 31, and his friends Ambani, Sexy and Doctor work with him for Fauji. He is the defacto leader of the group and other guys look unto him. He is the most introspective of the gang and gets along with Doctor the most.

Goading them on to make this job successful is their boss, Fauji (Sharat Saxena), who stands to gain the most from the job’s success and realize his dreams of becoming a politician. He has been in a rivalry with another gang for a long time. Having retired from the army, thus got this nickname, he then joined a bank as a security guard. Fauji planned to rob the very same bank he was guarding, but that plan never came to fruition.

On the road to completing this mission they come across a multitude of crazy characters which includes a guru and his wrestlers, a bunch of smart ass kids, a raging Chief Minister (Kiron Juneja Sippy), a Scheming Businessman (Anupam Kher), the Leader of the villagers (Yashpal Sharma), an angry Aunt(Neena Kulkarni), a college going Athlete (Udit Khurana) and a photographer Girlfriend Neha Sharma (Tena Desae) who wants to move on with her life, while dealing with a boss who wants them to break his opponents legs and make mobile videos of it for evidence!

Aggarwal (Anupam Kher) is a businessman who believes all is fair in politics and business. He heads a group of companies which he owns. A shrewd businessman, he knows his way around the corridors of power and how to get his work done and take his company ahead.

Neha is a beautiful 26 year old girl who lives by herself in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. Hailing from Chandigarh, has a job in Delhi and believes in going with the flow. She is an emotional, yet practical girl. She works as a gallery manager but has dreams to become a photographer.

Jaya Gulati (Kiron Joneja) is the chief minister of the state which she leads with an iron fist. She is a single mother, has a son Hitu Gulati (Udit Khurana) who wants to be away from politics and is a college going athlete.

Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande is a fine example of producing an exciting and entertaining blend of action, comedy with a limited budget. The camerawork is unique and the first time writer-director Parvin Dabas attempts to put his own unique modern spin on a contemporary and original Indian story.

The film Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande begins impressively with a prologue on land acquisition, best manifested in the Singur-Tata controversy and the latest episode in Bhatta and Parsaul villages of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Model turned actor Parvin Dabas’ first attempt at writing-direction tackles the serious issue eventually falls short of expectations in its execution. Better luck next time Parvin. A fine attempt.
