Film Review – Jism 2

To love her … is to die

Starring: Sunny Leone, Randeep Hooda, Arunoday Singh
Directed by Pooja Bhatt

Shot entirely in Sri Lanka, Jism 2, the  thriller directed by Pooja Bhatt, which isn’t exactly a sequel to Jism (2003) starring Bipasha Basu and John Abraham. Jism 2, this one too is a thriller yet, falls short of expectations compared to its first part.

Jism 2 begins with Sunny Leone lying on the beach thinking whether she did the right thing to fall in love and if it was really worth it? (The viewer would now think if it was worth watching it).

Sunny Leone plays Izna, who is a porn star, living life carelessly and having fun all times. She comes across the handsome hunk Ayaan (Arunoday Singh) who later declares that he is an intelligence officer.

Ayaan offers her a lucrative Ten Crore Rupees for an assignment which is supposedly easier for Izna to execute.

Izna’s instructions are to come closer, (if need be, physically closer) to a terrorist Kabir (Randeep Hooda) who is operating from the neighbouring country. Now comes the justification – once upon a time she was his soul mate and after separating from her, Kabir has never come closer to any woman, nor does he have any friends or contacts. This international assassin is a loner, prefers to stay locked up in his bungalow / resort and disguise himself as the master musician violinist.

The aim of her mission is to extract some super-sensitive data which is stored in the laptop of Kabir and whose current location is established in Sri Lanka

Izna and Ayaan land up in Sri Lanka and manage to rent a bungalow in the same vicinity and opposite to Kabir’s. Then begins the game. The bait is laid to attract Kabir, and she is successful. In the process, she not only has to confront her bitter-sweet past, but is also forced to make an impossible choice – one that will put her own life in double jeopardy.

A positive aspect is Izna’s speech is accurately dubbed in fluent hindi with perfect lip sync, yet, at regular intervals, the only emotion this leading lady displays is heavy breathing in and out and mere skin show.

Some of the unexplained situations in Jism 2, is that a dreaded assassin staying with just a single friend cum bodyguard. And whether the neighboring government would allow such a situation to happen and go unreported?

One actually wonders whether the Indian Intelligence guys actually offer such an exorbitant amount to a porn star in real situations?

This one is an Only Adults movie which is neither a proper thriller nor an erotic flick, considering having Sunny Leone in the lead role.
