Shoot On Sight, movie review
Shoot On Sight is a political thriller which deals with the difficult dilemma of mostly peace loving Muslims. The story is about these turbulent times, when a cosmopolitan society, especially London, is gripped by fear of Islamic extremism. There is rampant racial profiling and Islamophobia during the aftermath of underground bombings in July 2005. This is a fictional story based on Operation Kratos, the police "Shoot-on- sight" policy applied to suspected suicide-bombers after the 7 July 2005 London bombings. The film unfolds the turmoil in the life of Tariq Ali (Naseeruddin Shah), a Muslim police officer at Scotland Yard. Ramchand Pakistani, movie review
Ramchand Pakistani is derived from a true story concerning the accidental crossing of the Pakistan-Indian border during a period (June 2002) of extreme, war-like tension between the two countries by two members of a Pakistani Hindu family belonging to the 'untouchable' (Dalit) caste, and the extraordinary consequences of this unintended action upon the lives of a woman, a man, and their son. The singular theme of Ramchand Pakistani is how a child from Pakistan aged eight years learns to cope with the trauma of forced separation from his mother while being held prisoner, along with his father in the jail of a country i.e. India, which is hostile to his own, while on the other side of the border, the wife-mother, devastated by their sudden disappearance builds a new chapter of her life, by her solitary struggle for sheer survival. Hulla, movie review
This energetic bittersweet comedy, more accurately perhaps - drama with a sense of humour, Hulla turns a contemporary eye on something that is taken too much for granted in Indian cities, especially Mumbai – private space. It’s about the clash between a stockbroker who is not allowed to sleep at night and a small-time trader who won’t let him (as the secretary of the building society they live in). This seemingly trivial, even laughable, problem eventually snowballs into disasters for both of them and their families, while unspooling the attitudes of people around them. Raj and Abha, a couple in their early-thirties, move into their new 2-bedroom flat in a Mumbai suburb. They are both very happy as only new home-owners can be in Mumbai. Since the flat is in a residential complex away from the bustle of the city and the main road, they both expect peace and quiet. Raj (Sushant ....

Welcome to Sajjanpur, movie review
Set in a fictitious Indian village Welcome to Sajjanpur tells the humble story of the inhabitants of that village. The central character is Mahadev, one of the few educated young men from Sajjanpur. His ambition is to be a novelist, but finds it easier to make a living by writing letters sitting next to the Post Office. His ability to write persuasive letters makes him popular with the largely non-literate population of the town. Aware of this power, he soon uses his talent to manipulate people with amusing and sometimes not such amusing results. With this as the narrative frame, Welcome to Sajjanpur shows in an entertaining musical and comic way, characters and events that are at once hilarious and poignant. A delightful satirical take on a contemporary Indian village. Mahadev (Shreyas Talpade) is a young graduate from Sajjanpur village who lives with his widowed mother. She has a ....
