Several of her hit solo numbers online, are from varied languages like a regional Assamese song, devotional Bengali song and a Hindi Bhajan. A romantic Hindi song Naa Keh Saku Main has fetched her greater recognition and a large fan base. While she has made a mark in the Telugu music industry, there are several Bollywood songs in the offing.

“I owe my success to my parents and my family who have provided full support to pursue my career in the music world. My teachers too have been a great help. It was music director Vinod Yajamanya who offered me a break in the Telugu film industry and the production house Peoples Media Factory has also been actively promoting me, “says Soma Dutta.

Her biggest hit is the Assamese Folk song which is trending high on the OTT platforms. “My favourite genre is soft melodies and romantic songs and in particular it is Lata Mangeshkarji’s ‘Lag ja gale’ from Woh Kaun Thi. I am highly inspired by this nightingale of India and it is her ‘Man Mohana Bade Jhoothe’ from the film Seema that has mesmerized me. It was picturized on Nutan ji who is the ultimate beauty, that is what I feel.

Among the current generation of singers, according to me it is Shreya Ghosal who is the reigning queen of melody. I have been highly inspired by Lata ji of the past era and Shreya Ghosal among the present day playback singers.”

Soma Dutta is a HR professional in the IT industry and her hobbies are gardening, dancing and playing badminton.

“It is the noted Bollywood Casting Director Himalaya Agrawal who has been a guiding force for me in this vast film industry. Himalaya Sir has mentored me how to find my place. He is very experienced and prompts me quite often about the genuineness of the film producer. Whether the song is apt for me or not and I fully bank on him as it is he who instantly gauges the suitability for my voice,” adds Soma.

Lately, Soma Dutta has performing in Shows in Hyderabad and all over India, but it was her recent show in Nanded that received tremendous acclaim.

“It is my practice of Riyaaz for over 3 hours everyday in the mornings that makes me strive to better myself each day. I believe in simple living and high thinking. I love playing the keyboard, guitar, tanpura and harmonium.

What should the Bollywood film industry expect from Soma Dutta? “I have noticed that soul is missing from today’s music, hence I would like to take up soulful songs that recreated the 80s era,” promises this talented singer from a small town who aims to make it big in Bollywood.
